THE CAUSES OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION, APPRAISE THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION LAWS IN NIGERIA, TO NOTE THE EFFECTS AND THE NATURE OF POLLUTION, TO HIGHLIGHT THE BENEFITS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENTS AND THE NEED FOR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT.

Abstract

Every research work has its objective like wiseth!s research work. The main objectives or purpose of this work is to find the causes of environmental pollution, appraise the environmental protection laws in Nigeria, to note the effects and the nature of pollution, to highlight the benefits of sustainable developments and the need for Environmental Impact Assessment. The necessity for proper urban and regional planning to curb the excesses of environmental pollution. This not being a scientific research was doctrinal in nature. This research work was dependent on law textbooks, law journals and articles, Statutes and website browsing. In this research it was observed that environmental pollution is of a global nature, without boundaries, that human activities are instrumental to environmental pollution. It was also observed that environmental protection laws in Nigeria are all encompassing but the lacuna is proper implementation of these laws.
